Introduction Great
Managers Over the last twenty-five years, I’ve gotten down right mule-headed about certain things. One of them is management. I get wacko when I see bad or misguided managers in action. It seems that being a good manager should be easier than being a bad manager. Being a great manager of people is not rocket science. There are some baseline requirements that most anyone can meet. You can be male or female. Your ethnicity is irrelevant. But, being able to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds is critical. I don’t pretend that what follows is a comprehensive guide to being a manager. I haven’t attempted to list and describe each task a manager faces. What I’ve tried to do is to hit those key areas that will define your management style. The kind of manager you’ll be has to reflect the kind of person you are. Don’t let your title keep you from being a thoughtful, caring person. Wayne Bonekemper |
